The Secret City Half Marathon Weekend held November 30 to December 1 was a huge success. The weekend featured a 5K and 10K race on Saturday and the inaugural Health and Fitness Expo. The Half Marathon and Half Marathon relay were held on Sunday. Of the 536 runners of the Half Marathon, Jason McLeaod, 21 of Orlando, Fla. finished the 13.1 mile course first in only 1:11:53. Gina Rouse, 34, of Knoxville was the top female finisher and second place overall with a time of 1:19:50. About 180 runners competed the day before in the 5K and 10K races. Race Director Frank Chmielewicz said, “I thought it went great.”

Funds from the event went to:
• ASAP (Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention)
• CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates of the Tennessee Heartland), and
• TORCH (Trinity Out Reach Center of Hope).

ASAP is pleased to be a beneficiary of this wonderful event and will use the funds to continue carrying out its mission to engage community partners in the prevention of substance misuse in Anderson County through awareness, education, and policy change.
