Walgreens Pharmacy in Oak Ridge now has a permanent medication disposal bin to serve the community. Five permanent disposal bins already exist throughout Anderson County at local police departments. Medication disposal has been a collaborative community effort and citizens have taken advantage of the service.
Since 2010, ASAP of Anderson County, along with Oak Ridge Police Department, Clinton Police Department, Oliver Springs Police Department, Rocky Top Police Department, and Norris Police Department have worked together to provide this service. Since its inception, more than 6,500 pounds of medication have been disposed through Operation Rx. All agencies are excited that Walgreens in Oak Ridge is now a participating partner, focused on enhancing access to proper medication disposal.
